The Challenge
It Started as a Redesign. It Became Something More.
PostOp Therapy came to us with a site already live — functional, established, but feeling dated. The original ask was straightforward: modernize the look, refresh the content, update the feel. What unfolded over the weeks that followed was something considerably more complex, and considerably more interesting.
New content came in from multiple directions — AI-generated drafts, input from friends, evolving ideas about who the brand was and who it was speaking to. The original site's content was gradually set aside as something sharper and more intentional started to take shape. What began as a redesign became a full reimagining.
From the very beginning, the client was clear about one thing above everything else: This is not massage therapy. Lymphatic drainage therapy is a clinically informed, medically purposeful practice — and her website needed to say that without apology. Every design decision was filtered through that distinction.
The Process
Adapting in Real Time.
The client knew what she wanted — she just needed help finding the words for it. She came across another site that captured a feeling she couldn't quite articulate: the way elements moved as you scrolled, the way content arrived with intention rather than just appearing. She loved a silent video playing in the hero — ambient, atmospheric, professional. We listened, studied what she was responding to, and built those moments into her site.
Then came the color conversation. And it was a long one.
After four rounds of going back and forth on color palettes, it became clear that the traditional approach — presenting options and waiting for feedback — wasn't working. The client knew what she didn't want but struggled to articulate what she did. So we changed the dynamic entirely: we built her an interactive color wheel and handed her the controls.
"Sometimes the most efficient thing you can do is stop presenting options and start giving your client the tools to find the answer herself."
It took a few more rounds even after that — because finding your brand color is genuinely hard, and doing it right matters. But giving her agency over the process changed everything. When the final palette landed, it was hers. She'd found it. We'd just built the path to get there.
The Outcome
Live. On Time. On Her Terms.
The site launched ahead of a podcast appearance — a hard deadline that couldn't move. The new site needed to be live and credible before listeners went looking for her. We made it happen — and instead of hiding the fact that final photos were still incoming, we leaned into it.
Our website is getting a little facelift...
She's still a bit swollen while we update photos, brand colors, and smooth out a few details behind the scenes.
Everything is fully accessible, so feel free to explore.
Thank you for your patience while we complete the final touches.
The Detail That Said Everything
Rather than go dark or post a "coming soon" page, we held the space with warmth and honesty. The sticky note — handwritten in feel, perfectly on-brand in tone — told visitors exactly what was happening and invited them to stay anyway. It held the space gracefully. And it was charming enough that people noticed.
"She says that right now she is very proud of the site."
After eight rounds of color, multiple content overhauls, and a complete reimagining of scope — that sentence is the whole story. A client who is proud of what represents her online is a client who will refer others. That's the real outcome.
The Takeaway
A Moving Target Is Still a Target.
Not every project goes according to the original plan. Clients grow and change their minds. New inspiration arrives mid-build. Deadlines don't move even when the scope does. The measure of a good creative partner isn't whether the project stayed neat — it's whether the client ended up with something they're proud of.
PostOp Therapy is live. The client is proud. The podcast listeners found a site that looked exactly as credible as her work deserves. That's what we're here for.
